Introduction to Emotion-Focused Family Therapy

This online training is intended for clinicians and therapists interested in an introduction to the EFFT model. The essence of EFFT is to increase the positive role of caregivers in their child’s emotional health and wellness in specific ways - including with behavior coaching, emotion coaching and relationship repair. The model also involves a module for clinicians to identify, understand, and transform “emotion blocks” that can lead to therapy-interfering attitudes or behaviours in caregivers and in themselves. Natasha will offer an overview of each of the modules, as well as supporting research. Case examples will also be provided.

Emotion-Focused School Support (prior training required)

This online training is intended for clinicians and educators interested in supporting their school-based colleagues with the framework and strategies of Emotion-Focused School Support (EFSS). The primary primary goals of EFSS include supporting school staff in: 1. regulating child/adolescent emotion with a focus on “return to learning”, 2. preventing emotional escalations, and 3. de-escalating outbursts in progress. EFSS also includes a module to respond to challenging parental dynamics, including those who present with anxiety, shame, resentment or criticism. The final module of EFSS involves opportunities for school staff to identify their strengths and challenges when faced with emotional situations with students, their caregivers and with colleagues, and in a manner that is respectful and compassionate. Participants will be provided with a sample presentation for their future use. Prerequisite: prior training in EFFT or participation in the online training titled: Teaching Emotion Coaching to Caregivers (above).
